After more than 8,000 grueling kilometres of riding, last week Mark Kinnard was crowned the winner of Gibraltar Race 2017.
British rider Kinnard, who hails from Essex, was competing in the event on his 690cc KTM which was fitted with the new Capra Extreme enduro tyre manufactured by Anlas.
He was one of a group of 60 riders who left Bulgaria’s Black Sea resort of Burgas towards the end of June before heading west with the end goal of being the first to reach the British enclave of Gibraltar at the tip of southern Spain.
The first stage of the ride took the group through the Balkans before they eventually arrived in Albania, catching the first of two ferry crossings en-route, the first of which would take them to Italy.
After crossing Italy, a further ferry trip saw riders taken to Barcelona before they headed south, also crossing the border into Portugal and eventually the finish line on The Rock of Gibraltar where Mark the the rest of the finishers were greeted by rapturous applause.
Pietro Della Cave from Anlas Italy was also on hand to welcome the riders and congratulate the winner on behalf of the manufacturer.
Anlas have been the official tyre of the sponsor of the Gibraltar Race for a number of years, although riders are free to select any tyre brand.
Several of the big adventure bike riders opted to fit the Anlas Capra-X, an ideal option for the likes of the Africa Twin or BMW R1200GS with an aggressive tread pattern which delivers superb performance off-road as well as on the tarmac.
The Capra Extreme is a brand new enduro tyre developed by Anlas to offer maximum traction over a wide variety of terrain.
